The MCG’s Nice Southern Stand and Phillip Island’s Penguin Parade Customer Centre are amongst a number of Victorian buildings short-listed for the nation’s prime architectural prizes.
The State Library’s $88m refurbishment, an overhaul of the Regent Theatre and a $25m redevelopment of the Broadmeadows City Corridor may even vie for accolades within the 2020 Nationwide Structure Awards.
A complete of twenty-two Victorian initiatives beforehand adorned within the Victorian model of the awards earlier this 12 months are short-listed throughout 14 classes for the Australian Institute of Architects program.

The MCG’s Southern Stand redesign spearheaded by famend Melbourne architect Daryl Jackson was awarded Victoria’s enduring structure award in July and can now face-off with Palm Backyard Home in NSW and a Queensland church for the nationwide accolade.
Nationwide awards jury chair Helen Lochhead mentioned it was “ironic” the MCG was in rivalry within the 12 months it had seen the least use because the Nice Southern Stand was up to date within the Nineties.

The State Library is short-listed for the heritage class and for public structure, the latter of which the Penguin Parade Centre can be within the operating for.
Award winners will likely be introduced within the nationwide awards’ first ever live-streamed occasion at 7pm, November 5.
